Argentina launches $6.5 million tender to supply electricity to rural communities
07/01/2021 Since 3 years

The Renewable Energy in Rural Markets Project (PERMER) has called for bids for the design, construction or expansion and initial operation of four renewable energy generating plants that will supply four rural localities in the provinces of Río Negro and Catamarca in Argentina.

The PERMER project, under the Undersecretariat of Electric Energy, promotes social inclusion and socio-economic development of people living in energy poverty through the electrification of homes, schools, primary health care centres, communities and small productive enterprises in areas that do not have access to the energy distribution network.

This project is implemented through IBRD Loan No. 8484. The companies that are awarded the contract must build the generating plants and the respective connections to the existing networks in all the affected towns, and comply at all times with the environmental and social provisions set out in the tender documents. The deadline for submitting bids is 30 July 2021.
