In the Latin American and Caribbean region, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are a vital economic force for the region as they represent a diversity of productive activities and constitute an essential source of employment, promoting competitiveness and sustainable growth of the region. In this context, energy plays a key role in the economic performance of any company and its efficient use represents an opportunity for SMEs to strengthen their production processes, increase their competitiveness and promote their modernization, save money and have a positive impact on the Environment through the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG).

Energy efficiency can play a major role in reducing the impact of the growth of energy demand in the Latin American region by promoting a number of multiple benefits such as reducing energy costs and demand in different sectors, increasing Productivity and competitiveness of SMEs, improve employment and reduce GHG emissions.

This webinar will present some examples of instruments and programs to address and finance energy efficiency in Latin America. First, we will share the experience of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) with Energy Savings Insurance Program (ESI) as an innovative instrument implemented in different LAC countries.
