Costa Rica: Banks move along financing lines related to green loans

Six banks are already offering green loans in Costa Rica: Banco Nacional, Banco de Costa Rica, BAC, Banco Popular, Davivienda and Promerica. Between 2010 and 2017, these six banks granted more than 900 new green loans, for a total amount of approximately 140 million US dollars. Most of them offer financing for investments in areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy generation and efficient or low emissions transportation, among others.
